Hostel

(1) Hostel accommodation.- Provision of having hostel accommodation is compulsory for the institution. However Principal has the discretion to decide about the students stay in hostel or be made as a day scholar. Adequate hostel/residential accommodation for students and staff should be available in addition to the above mentioned built up area of the Nursing School respectively. (2) Hostel facilities.- There should be separate hostels for the male and female students. They should have the following facilities, namely:- (a) Hostel Room.- It should be ideal for two students with the minimum 150 sq.ft. carpet area. The furniture, provided should include a cot, a table, a chair, a book rack, a cupboard and a cloth rack for each student. (b) Toilet and Bathroom:- Toilet and bathroom facilities should be provided on each floor. One toilet and one bathroom for 6 students should be provided. (c) Recreation:- There should be facilities for indoor and outdoor games. There should be provision for Television, Radio and Video cassette player. (d) Visitor's Room:- There should be a visitor's room in the hostel with comfortable seating, lighting and toilet facilities. (e) Kitchen and Dining Hall:- There should be a hygienic kitchen and dining hall to seat at least 80% of the total students strength at one time with adequate tables, chairs, water coolers and refrigerators. Hand washing facilities must be provided. (f) There should he provision for safe drinking water. (g) Washing and Ironing Room:- Facility for washing, drying and ironing clothes should be provided in each floor. (h) Sick room:- A sick room should have a comfortable bed, linen, furniture and attached toilet. Minimum of 2 beds should be provided. (i) Room for night duty nurses should be in a quiet area. (j) Guest Room:- A guest room, two beds with attached facility for examiners/inspectors should be made available. (k) Warden's Room:- Warden's room should be provided with toilet facilities. (3) Staff for the Hostel 1. Warden - 1 2. House Keeper - 2 (for day and night shifts) 3. Cook -1: For every 20 students for each shift. 4.
