(1) With effect on and from the date of commencement of this Act, there shall be established a Self Financing University by name "the National University of Advanced Legal Studies". (2) The University shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal with power, subject to the provisions of this Act, to acquire and hold property, to contract and shall by the said name sue and be sued. (3) In all suits and other legal proceedings by or against the University, the pleadings shall be signed and verified by the Registrar and all process in such suits and proceedings shall be issued to and served on the Registrar. (4) The headquarters of the University shall be at Kochi. (5) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, the territorial jurisdiction of the University shall extend to the whole of the State of Kerala. (6) The University may establish study centers within the state and also in other parts of India and abroad.
