Section 13

Term of office of the members of the General Council.-

(1) The term of office of the members of the General Council shall be four years: Provided that the member nominated from among the students as per clause (xxii) of section 12 shall hold office for a period of one year from the date of his nomination or till he ceases to be a student whichever is earlier. (2) Where a member of the General Council becomes such member by reason of the office or appointment the holds or is a nominated member, his membership shall cease when he ceases to hold such office or appointment, as the case may be, or his nomination is withdrawn or cancelled. (3) If any casual vacancy arises in the General Council, that vacancy shall be filled up from the category in which the vacancy arose in the manner specified for that category in section 12 but he can continue in the General Council only for the remaining period as if the vacancy has not arisen.
