Power of the different authorities to sanction estimates.— [(1) Subject to the availability of resources and the provision in the budget estimate, the Authority competent to accord administrative sanction to the estimates of any works or schemes and the limit up to which such sanction may be accorded shall be as shown below, namely:— (a) Town Panchayat (i) Standing Committee Upto twenty-five thousand rupees (ii) Council Exceeding twenty-five thousand rupees (b) Municipal Council (i) Standing Committee Upto fifty thousand rupees (ii) Council Exceeding fifty thousand rupees (c) Municipal Corporation (i) Standing Committee Upto one lakh rupees (ii) Council Exceeding one lakh rupees.] (2) Subject to availability of resources, the powers vested in the authorities to sanction estimates shall, in cases in which consultation with the District Planning Committee concerned is necessary, be subject to such rates as may be made by the Government relating to technical scrutiny and sanction of the estimates by competent technical officers. 40. Sub-section (1) substituted by Act 14 of 1999, w.e.f. 24-3-1999. Prior to the substitution Sub-section (1) read as under: "(1) Subject to the availability of resources, the authority competent to accord administrative sanction to any estimate for works or to sanction any expenditure and the limit upto which such sanction may be accorded shall be as shown below, namely:- (a) Town Panchayat (i) The Chairman Upto five thousand rupees (ii) The Standing Committee Exceeding five thousand rupees but not exceeding twenty five thousand rupees. (iii) The Council Exceeding twenty five thousand rupees but not exceeding ten lakh rupees. (iv) The Government Exceeding ten lakh rupees (b) Municipal Council (i) The Chairman Upto ten thousand rupees. (ii) The Standing Committee Exceeding ten thousand rupees but not exceeding fifty thousand rupees (iii) The Council Exceeding fifty thousand rupees but not exceeding twenty five lakh rupees (iv) The Government Exceeding twenty five lakh rupees (c) Municipal Corporation (i) The Mayor Upto twenty five thousand rupees (ii) The Standing Committee Exceeding twenty five thousand rupees but not exceeding three lakh rupees (iii) The Council Exceeding three lakh rupees but not exceeding fifty lakh rupees (iv) The Government Exceeding fifty lakh rupees"
