POWER TO DESTROY ARTICLES.— (1) Where any animal or article of food is seized under section 479, it may, with the consent of the owner or person in whose possession it was found, be forthwith destroyed in such manner as to prevent it being used for human food or exposed for sale, and where the article is perishable, without such consent. (2) Any expenses incurred in destroying any animal or article under sub-section (1) shall be paid by the owner thereof or person in whose possession it was at the time of its seizure.
