The Government consider that instead of making amendments to the existing Kerala Municipalities Act and the Kerala Municipal Corporations Act, it would be better to enact a new Municipalities Act applicable uniformly to the Municipal Councils, Municipal Corporations and Nagar Panchayats, incorporating the provisions in accordance with the Constitution (Seventy-Fourth) Amendment Act, 1992.
