PROHIBITION OF PUBLIC MEETINGS ON THE DAY PRECEDING THE ELECTION DAY AND ON THE ELECTION DAY.— (1) No person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting within a ward during the period of forty-eight hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll for an election in that ward. (2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees.
