Any officer of the Government prescribed by them in this behalf may, by order, require any operator to produce such accounts, registers and documents and to furnish such information relating to the taxable vehicle or the [fares, freights and taxes collected from passengers or consignors of goods [carried] as the case may be] as may be specified in the order.
