Section 1

Short title and extent.--

(1) This Act may be called The Madras Public Health Act, 1939. [(2) It extends to the whole of the Malabar District and the Kasaragod Taluk of South Kanara district as defined in clasue (b) of Section 5 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956)]. Substituted by Kerala Decentralisation of Powers Act, 2000 (Act 16 of 2000), published in K. G. Ext. No. 869 dt. 12/05/2000 (w.e.f. 12/05/2000). Prior to the substitution it read as: "(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Madras".
