(1) This Act may be called the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1951. (2) It extends to the whole of the [Malabar District] and applies to all Hindu public religious institutions and endowments, including the Tirumalai-Tirupati Devasthanams and the endowments thereof. Explanation.-- In this sub-section, Hindu public religious institutions and endowments do not include Jain religious institutions and endowments. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the [State Government] may, by notification in the [Kerala Government Gazette], appoint. Kerala Adaptation of Laws Order, 1956.
