Interest in defaulted instalments of purchase price.-- If [any instalment] of the purchase price payable by the kudikidappukaran is not deposited on the due date, the amount of such instalment shall bear interest at the rate of four and a half per cent per annum from that date till the date of the deposit of that instalment."
