Functions of the Board.-(1) It shall be the duty of the Board to organize, develop and regulate khadi and village industries 3[and to assist the local authorities in implementation of the schemes for the development of Khadi and Village Industries] and perform such functions as the Government may, prescribe from time to time. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions of sub-section (1), the Board shall also in particular discharge and perform all or any of the following duties and functions namely:- (1) to start, encourage, assist and run khadi and village industries; (2) 4[to provide deserving persons with gainful employment in their homes through the organization of khadi and village industries; (2-a) to grant loans and give other assistance for the development of khadi and village industries.] (3) to organize Co-operative societies for Khadi and Village Industries.
