(1) On the conviction of any driver for any offence under this Act, the Magistrate may direct the cancellation of the licence of such driver or its suspension for such time as he thinks fit. (2) For such purpose, he may require the driver or any other person who may be in possession of the licence or badge to deliver up the same. (3) If such driver or other person refuses or neglects to deliver up the licence or badge, he shall be liable to a fine not exceeding ten rupees. (4) The Magistrate shall forward every licence and every badge delivered up to him under sub-section (2) to the registering authority together with a memorandum of his sentence in the case. (5) The registering authority shall enter the fact of such sentence in the register referred to in section 22, and shall either suspend or cancel such licences according to the direction of the Magistrate, and if it has been suspend the registering authority shall, on application at the end of the period of suspension, redeliver such licence or badge to whom it was granted.
