- (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 14 and 15, it shall be competent for the Government to appoint an officer of the Government not below the rank of Deputy Collector to be in additional charge of the office of the Administrator pending appointment of the Administrator under section 14 or when the office is temporarily vacant: Provided that the period of such additional charge shall not exceed three months. (2) No person shall be appointed under sub-section (1) unless he professes the Hindu Religion and believes in temple worship. (3) An officer appointed to be in additional charge of the Administrator under sub section (1) shall be paid such allowances as the Government may fix in this behalf.
