Penalty for breach oj rules mnde under sectzon 39.-( I) The Government may by such rules presclibe as penalties for the contraven- tton thereof Imprisonment for a term which may extend to s1x months, or fine which may extend to five hundred Rupees or both. (2) Such rules may provide that, in cases where the offence 1s commmed after makmg preparatton for resistance to the executiOn of any law or any legal process, or where the offender has been previously convicted of a hke offence, the convictmg Magistrate may inflict double the penalty prescribed for such offence.
