Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) “appointed day” means the date on which this Act comes into force; (b) “Director of Industries and Commerce” means the Director of Industries and Commerce of the State of Kerala and includes any officer authorized by the Government to perform the functions of the Director of Industries and Commerce under this Act; (c) “Engineering Technicians' Co-operative Society” or “society” means the ENCOS or any of the promoted societies; (d) “member-employee” means an employee of a society who has taken share in the society for the purpose of securing employment in the service of the society; (e) “prescribed” means prescribed by rules made under this Act; (f) “share” means a share in the capital of the society.
