(1) The meters for new connections shall be as specified in the Central Electricity Authority (Installation and Operation of Meters) Regulations, 2006, as amended from time to time. (2) The meters now in service, which do not conform to the specifications of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), shall be replaced in a phased manner, with the meters conforming to the standards of CEA, for which the licensee shall prepare a time bound programme and obtain approval of the Commission for it within a period of six months from the date of coming in to effect of the Code. (3) The accuracy class of consumer meter shall be as specified in the Central Electricity Authority (Installation and Operation of Meters) Regulations, 2006, as amended from time to time.
