(1) In every dock and on board every ship, there shall be provided and maintained so as to readily accessible during all working hours, sufficient number of first aid box(es) and contents as per the scale laid down in Schedule V. (2) The distance of the location where the first aid box is kept shall not be more than 100 metres from any working place. (3) Nothing except the contents such as appliances or requisites as specified in Schedule V shall be kept in first aid boxes. (4) Each first aid box or cupboard shall be distinctly marked "FIRST AID". The place where the first aid box is kept shall be distinctly and prominently specified with a sign board "FIRST AID" in the language known to the majority of the dock workers. (5) Each first aid box shall be kept in the charge of responsible person who is trained in first aid management and who shall always be readily available during working hours. (6) The first aid training shall be as per the guidelines prescribed by the Chief Inspector or the Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment. (7) First-aid training shall be imparted only by institutions approved by the Chief Inspector or Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment. Institutes of Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, imparting First Aid Training shall be considered automatically approved for this purpose. (8) Two suitable stretchers including one Neil Robertson Stretcher or any other suitable sling stretcher shall be provided near the first aid box.
