(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974) any officer empowered by the Government in this behalf may, at any time, on receipt of such compensation as may be fixed by such officer, compound any offence punishable under the foregoing provisions of this Act. (2) A composition under sub-section (1) shall have the effect of an acquittal of the accused.
