Section 29

Penalties.--

(1) If any person contravenes any of the provisions of sub-sections (1), (2), (4), (5) and (6) of section 4, clause (a) of sub-section (1) and clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 8, sub-section (1) of section 13, sub-section (1) of section 17 and section 27, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees and in default to simple imprisonment which may extend to two weeks. (2) If any landlord received unconscionable rent in respect of any building he shall be punishable with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both.
