Apporntment, powers and dutws of Inspectors —(1) The Govern- ment may, by notification, appoint such officers of Government o: of any local authority as they think fit to be Inspectors foi the purposes of this Act, within such local limits as the Government may assign to them. (2) The Government may, by notification, appoint any person to be a Ghief Inspector who shall, under this Act, exercise the powers of an Inspector throughout the State. (3) Every Inspector appointed under sub-section (1) and the Chief Inspecto: appointed under sub-section (2) shall be deemed to be public servants withih the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code (Cential Act 45 of 1860)
