If the Government are of opinion that any protected area contains an ancient monument or antiquities of regional interest and value, they may acquire such area under the provisions of the Kerala Land Acquisition Act, 1961, (21 of 1962), as if the acquisition were for a public purpose within the meaning of that Act.
