If the Government apprehend that a protected monument is in danger of being destroyed, injured, misused or allowed to fall into decay, they may acquire the protected monument under the provisions of the Kerala Land Acquisition Act, 1961 (21 of 1962), as if the maintenance of the protected monument were a public purpose within the meaning of that Act.
