Section 17

Constitution of the Academic Council: -

(1) The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:- a) the Vice-Chancellor; b) [x x x x] c) the Deans of Faculties; d) the Director of Research; e) the Director of Extension; f) the Director of Students Welfare; g) the Librarian; h) six members from among the Head of Departments of the Faculties, nominated by the Chancellor on rotational basis. i) three members from among the staff of the research stations of the University, nominated by the Chancellor; j) two members from among the Post-Graduate students and one member from among the Research Students of the University, elected in such manner as may be prescribed. k) one member elected by the teachers (other than the Dean) of each Faculty, from among themselves; 1) the Registrar, and m) such other members as may be prescribed. (2) the Academic Council may co-opt as members, not more than ten persons for such periods and in such manner as may be prescribed, so as to secure adequate representation to different aspects of agriculture. (3) one-third of the number of members, of the Academic Council shall form the quorum for a meeting of the Council. Omitted by Act 16 of 2001
