(1) The [Syndicate] shall appoint a person who is proposed by the Government from among three persons recommended by a Selection Committee determined by the [Syndicate], with the Vice-Chancellor as the Convenor, as may be prescribed by Statutes, to be the Controller of Examinations, who shall be a full-time salaried officer and shall work directly under the superintendence, direction and control of the Vice-Chancellor. The first Controller of Examinations shall be appointed by the Government. [2) The Controller of Examinations shall be appointed for a period of four years from the date on which he enters upon his office or till he completes the age of fifty-six years, whichever is earlier. The qualifications and experience for the purpose of selection of the Controller of Examinations shall be as approved by the Government. (2A) The person appointed as Controller of Examinations shall be eligible for re-appointment for one more period subject to the provisions in sub-section (2).] (3) The Controller of Examinations shall be the principal officer-in-charge of the conduct of examinations and tests of the University and declaration of their results and shall discharge the functions under the superintendence, direction and guidance of the Vice-Chancellor.
