Power to order works.- (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, it shall be lawful for the Authority to order any work or improvement on a public road, as if considers necessary, to secure safety on such roads and each concerned State Government department or the local 14 authority or any other authority shall be bound to carryout such works or improvement within such time, as may be specified by the Authority: Provided that, no order under this sub-section shall be issued in respect of any highway declared as such under the Karnataka Highway Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 44 of 1964) except with prior consultation of the Highway Authority of the respective area appointed under the said Act. 1[(2) It shall be the duty of every officer of the State Government, local authority or any other authority to act in aid of the Authority in enforcing orders under section 16 or under section 17.]1
