The Registrar. - (1) The Registrar shall be a whole-time officer of the University. 1[(2) The State Government may appoint an officer not below the rank of Group-A senior scale of the Department of Law or Department of Parliamentary Affairs or an officer belonging to All India Service or Karnataka Administrative Service as Registrar of the University. Provided that in case no officer specified sub-section (2), is available then a professor with not less than five years of service as Professor may be appointed as Registrar of the University.]1 (3) Whenever the office of the Registrar is vacant or the Registrar is, by reasons of illness, absence or for any other cause, unable to perform the duties of his office, the duties of the office of the Registrar shall be performed by such person as the Vice Chancellor may appoint for the purpose. (4) The Registrar may be assisted by one or more Deputy Registrars and Assistant Registrars.
