Constitution of the Commission for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.- (1) The State Government shall, as soon as may be after the commencement of the Act constitute a body to be called as the Karnataka State 3 Commission for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes to exercise the powers and perform the functions assigned to it by or under this Act with its head quarters at Bangalore. (2) The Commission shall consist of the following members, namely:- (a) the Chairperson, who has special knowledge in matter relating to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes nominated by the State Government; (b) two persons, who have special knowledge in matters relating to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes nominated by the State Government; 1[(b-1) In addition to the above, one person who shall belong to the Scheduled Tribes to be nominated by the State Government; (b-2) In addition to the above, one person who shall be a woman to be nominated by the State Government.]1 (c) The Director, Social Welfare or Director Tribal Welfare shall be the Member Secretary of the Commission respectively in matters pertaining to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes.
