The Vice-Chancellor .- (1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be a whole time officer of the University. (2) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from out of the panel of persons who have distinguished themselves in the field of health sciences. The panel shall consist of not less than three and not more than five persons arranged in the alphabetical order. The panel shall be recommended by a committee constituted under sub-section (3); Provided that ,- 14 (a) the first Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor on the recommendation of the Government; (b) No person shall be appointed or hold office as Vice-Chancellor if he has attained the age of 65 years. (c) If the Chancellor does not approve of any one of the persons recommended by the committee or if the person so recommended is not willing to accept the appointment, the Chancellor may call for fresh recommendations from the committee. 1[(3) The Committee referred to in sub-section (2) shall be a Search Committee constituted by the State Government consisting of three persons of whom, one shall be nominated by the Chancellor, one by the State Government and one by the Syndicate. The State Government shall appoint one of the members as Chairman of the Committee. The Secretary to the Government incharge of Medical Education or his nominee not below the rank of Deputy Secretary to Government shall be the Convenor of the Search Committee]1
