Punishment for vexatious delay.—Any officer or person, who vexatiously and unnecessarily delays forwarding to the officer in charge of the nearest Police Station any person arrested or article seized under this Act, shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both.
