Payment of portion of fine to informer.—The Magistrate trying any case under the provisions of sections 78, 79 and 80, may award any portion, not exceeding one-half of any fine which may be levied under any of the said sections, or any part of the proceeds of articles or money seized and ordered to be forfeited under section 83, among the Police Officers and other persons who may have given assistance in the detection or investigation of the offence.
