Interpretation.—For the purposes of this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires, the expression — (a) “municipal council” includes an administrator or officer appointed to exercise the powers and to perform the functions of a municipal council under section 315 or 316; 1[(b) Grama Panchayat includes a person or persons appointed to exercise the powers and to perform the functions of a Grama Panchayat in sections 8, 117, 118 and 268 of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, 1993.]1
