Medical Council to have powers of Civil Courts.—In holding inquiries under this Act, the Medical Council shall have the same powers as are vested in Civil Courts under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Central Act V of 1908), when trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely:— (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath; (b) compelling the production of documents; (c) issuing of commissions for the examination of witnesses. 1[(d) inspection of Medical Institutions such as Hospital, Nursing Homes, consultation rooms, Diagnostic Centres, Polyclinics, Clinics, Health and Care Institutions by whatever name called including Government Hospitals, carrying Medical Practice: Provided that no such inspection of a private or Government hospital or a teaching hospital of a medical college shall be made without a written compliant.]1
