Appointment of Registrar of Marriages, etc.- (1) For the purpose of this Act, the State government may, by notification, appoint, as may Registrars of Marriages as it thinks necessary for such area or areas as may be specified in the notification. (2) The Registrar shall maintain in the prescribed manner a register of marriage and such other registers as may be prescribed.
