Power of Chief Executive Officer as to execution of works.- Notwithstanding anything contained in section 82, the Chief Executive Officer may direct the execution of any work the cost of which does not exceed such maximum limit as may be fixed by the Government in that behalf and may enter into contracts for the execution of such work, but in every such case the Chief Executive Officer shall, as soon as possible, make a report to the Board of any such direction given or contracts entered into by him.
