Power to make rules by the State Government STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS Act 46 of 2013.- The Manipal Education Foundation have come forward to establish private University in the State. The establishment of a private university by a well-known organization would certainly help in spreading the quality education to the needy students. This also accelerates the enhancement of gross enrolment ratio in the higher education sector which presently stands at 11.5% in Karnataka. Keeping in view the above, it is considered necessary to provide for establishment of Manipal University Bangalore. This private university focuses on teaching, training, research and development in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Management, Hospitality, Music, Linguistics and allied sectors and for the matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Bill No. 12 of 2012, File No. Samvyashae 11 Shasana 2012] [Entry 25 of List III of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India.] ----- 4 KARNATAKA ACT NO. 46 OF 2013 (First Published in the Karnataka Gazette Extra-ordinary on the third day of April, 2013) THE MANIPAL UNIVERSITY BANGALORE ACT, 2012 (Received the assent of the Governor on the twenty fifth day of February, 2013) An Act to establish and incorporate in the State of Karnataka a University of unitary nature in Private Sector by the Manipal Education Foundation Trust to promote and undertake the advancement of University Education in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Management, Hospitality, Music, Linguistics and allied sectors and for the matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
