Section 27

Academic Council

Academic Council.- (1) The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:- (i) The Vice-Chancellor; (ii) Five experts in the field of folklore nominated by the Government for a term not exceeding three years; (iii) Two Deans of the Faculties nominated by the Vice-Chancellor by rotation in the order of seniority each for a term of two years; (iv) Three Professors of the Faculties nominated by the Vice-Chancellor, by rotation in the order of seniority each for a term of two years; (v) Six persons nominated by the Government for a term of three years from amongst experts in folklore of whom one belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes; one 17 belonging the Other Backward Classes, one representing the women, one representing the religious minority and two representing others; (vi) The Chairman of Karnataka Janapada Academy; (vii) The Chairman, Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy; (viii) The Chairman, Tulu Academy; (ix) The Chairman, Kodava Academy; (x) The Chairman, Kannada Sahitya Parishat; (xi) The Chairman, Karnataka Sahitya Academy; (xii) The Chairman, Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy; (xiii) The Director, Academic, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board; (xiv) The Registrar, Member Secretary; Provided that, no person who is in the employment of the university in whatever capacity shall be eligible for nomination. (2) The Academic Council shall meet atleast four times during an academic year, however that the duration between two consecutive meetings shall not exceed three months.
