Mandatory reporting.- (1) All State government officers are required and empowered to assist the police in the execution of the provisions of this Act or any rule or order made hereunder. (2) All village officers and such other officers as may be specified by the Deputy Commissioner in relation to any area and the inhabitants of such area shall, if they have reason to believe or have the knowledge that any of the offences mentioned under this Act are about to be, or have been committed in the area shall mandatorily report such fact to the nearest police station forthwith. (3) Whoever contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) or sub- section (2) shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years and shall also be liable to fine.
