Election of President, Chairperson, Vice-President, or Vice- Chairperson, etc.,- (1) Every co-operative society shall have a President or 1959:KAR.ACT 11] Co-operative Societies 69 Chairperson, Vice-President or Vice-Chairperson and such other office bearers elected in accordance with the provisions of this Act, rules or bye- laws. (2) The President or Chairperson shall preside over meetings of the *board* of the society and its sub-*board* as well as general meeting of the society. (3) In the event of vacancy in the office of President or Chairperson by resignation, death or removal or otherwise, the Vice-President or Vice- Chairperson shall perform the duties of the President or Chairperson as the case may be, until a member is duly elected as President or Chairperson. 1 [(4) The term of office of the office-bearers of a cooperative society shall be five years from the date of election and shall be co-terminus with the term of the board. (5) The Cooperative Election Commission shall conduct elections to the board and also to the office of President or Chair person, Vice President or Vice-Chairperson and such other office-bearers as are required to be elected as per the bye-laws of the cooperative society within fifteen days from the date of constitution or deemed constitution of the board after a general election. (6) The cooperative election commission shall conduct elections within sixty days from the date it being notified about the occurrence of any casual vacancy in the office of a director or any office bearer of a co- operative society to fill up such casual vacancy] 1
