Definitions.- In this Act unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Cauvery basin" means the basin area of the Cauvery river and its tributaries lying within the territory of the State of Karnataka; (b) "irrigable areas" means the areas specified in the Schedule; (c) "Schedule" means the Schedule annexed to this Act; (d) "water year" means the year commencing with the 1st day of June of a calendar year and ending with the 31st day of May of the next calendar year.
