(1) This Act may be called The Juvenile Justice Act, 1986. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. (3) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and for different States. Enforced w.e.f. 2nd October,1987, vide G.S.R. 710(E), dated 13th August, 1987.
