Definitions - In this Bill, unless the context otherwise requires;- (a) "Appointed Day" means the date on which the provisions of this Act come into force under sub-section (3) of section 1; (b) "Council" means the Jharkhand State Council of Physiotherapy constituted under section 3; (c) "Government" or "State Government" means the Government of Jharkhand; (d) "Inspector" means an Inspector appointed by the Council under section 23; (e) "Member" means a member of the Council; (f) "Physiotherapist" means a person who possesses physiotherapy qualification obtained from a recognized institution specified in Schedule II and whose name has been enrolled in the Register of Physiotherapists; (g) "Physiotherapy" means a branch of modern medical science which includes examination, assessment, screening, interpretation, physical diagnosis, investigation, planning and execution of treatment and advice to any person for the purpose of preventing, correcting, alleviating and limiting dysfunction, acute and chronic bodily malfunction including life saving measures via chest physiotherapy in the intensive care units, curing physical disorders or disability promoting physical fitness, facilitating healing and pain relief and treatment of physical and psychosomatic disorders through modulating physiological and physical response using physical agents, activities and devices including exercises, mobilisation, manipulations, therapeutic ultrasound, laser, electrical and thermal agents and electrotherapy for diagnosis, treatment and prevention; (h) "Prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act; (i) "President" means the President of the Council; (j) "Profession" means the profession of physiotherapy; (k) “Institution” means any institution recognized by the State Government or the Council, within or outside India, which grants Graduate Degree, Post Graduation Degree or Ph. D in Physiotherapy, as the case may be; (l) "Recognized Institution" means an institution specified in Schedule I which grants qualification in physiotherapy; (m) "Recognized Physiotherapy Qualification” means qualification in physiotherapy, obtained from recognized institution of Physiotherapy registered in Schedule I (n) "Register" means the Register of Physiotherapists, prepared and maintained by the Council under this Act; (o) "Registered Practitioner" means an physiotherapist, whose name is entered and continues to remain on the register of the Council; (p) “Registrar” means the Registrar appointed under section 14. 32 झारखSड गजट (असाधारण) सोमवार, 7 दस!बर, 2020 (q) “Regulation” means the regulations made by the Council under section 40 (r) "Rules" means rules made, under this Act; (s) "Schedule" means Schedule I regarding Schedule-II regarding Physiotherapy appended to this Act; (t) "State" means the State of Jharkhand; (u) "Vice-President" means the Vice-President of the Council.
