Punishment of imprisonment in default of payment of fine.- In every case where, under this Act, an offence is punishable with fine, or with imprisonment, or with both, and a person is sentenced by a Court having jurisdiction to pay a fine, it shall be competent for such Court to direct that in default of payment of fine, he shall suffer imprisonment for such term or, as the case may be, such further term, not exceeding six months, as the Court may fix.
