Unique premises number. – (1) The municipality shall, assign a unique premises number to every premises or part thereof in the municipal area and shall cause to be maintained a register wherein such unique premises number shall be recorded in respect of each such premises. Explanation. – In this section, the expression “unique premises number” shall mean a number assigned to the premises or part thereof by the municipality in the following manner, namely:- (a) the first three digits indicating the ward number, (b) the next three digits indicating the street number, (c) the next four digits indicating the premises number, (d) the next three digits indicating the sub-premises number, >kj[k.M xtV ¼vlk/kkj.k½] o`gLifrokj 9 Qjojh] 2012 613 (e) the next one digit indicating the code of the building use, such as residential, commercial, industrial or other use, and (f) the last one digit indicating the code of type of construction. (2) When the unique premises numbers in respect of premises in any ward of the municipality have been determined, the Municipal Commissioner or the Executive Officer shall notify such unique premises numbers in such manner as may be prescribed. (3) When, after the unique premises numbers in respect of premises in any ward have been notified under sub-section (2), any person is required under this Act or any other state law for the time being in force to make any application to the municipality for any permission or license or for payment of any tax, or for payment of any dues for any service, or for such other purposes as may be prescribed, the person making the application shall mention in the application the unique premises number assigned under sub-section (1).
