Acquisition of village channel by agreement Any person may, with the consent of the Canal Officer, acquire the ownership of an existing village channel for the purpose of improving or maintaining it: (a) by taking over any village channel belonging to the Government; (b) by transfer of ownership of village channel from the owner thereof by private agreement. Explanation-"Person" in this chapter includes any number of persons acting jointly and also water users association.
