(1) 1 [Each University shall have] a University Council consisting of the following members,— (i) The Chancellor ; (ii) The Pro-Chancellor ; (iii) Agriculture Minister, 2 [Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir] ; 3 [(iv) The Vice-Chancellor of the University concerned ; (iv-a) The Vice-Chancellor of the other University established under the provisions for this Act] ; (v) A nominee of the Government ; (vi) The Council may co-opt not more than two specialists as members to advise on particular matter under consideration. (2) The Chancellor shall preside over the meetings of the University Council when present. In his absence the Pro-Chancellor shall preside. In case Pro-Chancellor be not available, the Agriculture Minister shall preside. (3) The University Council shall meet twice a year. However, a special meeting of the Council may be convened whenever considered necessary.
