(1) This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989. (2) It extends to the 1 [whole of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir]. 2 [(3) It shall come into force on such date as the 3 [Government of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir] may, by notification in the 4 [Official Gazette], appoint in this behalf.]
