In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires :–– (a) “prescribed” means prescribed by rules made under this Act ; (b) “town” means a town area 1 [declared as such], but shall not include municipal areas or other stations, police duties of which are discharged by Police officials, recruited under the Police Act, 1983, or under any other Act for the time being in force ; (c) “village” means a residential area (entered as Mahal in revenue records) of which boundaries have been defined.
