Bare ActsIndian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC)

Section 102

Commencement and continuance of the right of private defence of the body

The IPC 1860 was replaced by the BNS 2023 (in force 2024-07-01); no verified section mapping on file for Section 102 — confirm the corresponding provision (savings: Section 358, BNS 2023).

The right of private defence of the body commences as soon as a reasonable apprehension of danger to the body arises from an attempt or threat to commit the offence though the offence may not have been committed; and it continues as long as such apprehension of danger to the body continues.
