Societies formed by memorandum of association and registration.—Any seven or more persons, being member of different families and competent to contract under section 11 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 (9 of 1872), associated for any literary, scientific or charitable purpose as described in sub-section (3) of section 1 of this Act, may, by subscribing their names to a memorandum of association, and filing the same with the Registrar, form themselves into a Society under this Act.
